Hi, this is a Sonic Reset brought to you by Sonic Connections.
Music and sound have this incredible power to impact our body chemistry, can help ground our nervous systems, bring us into the present when everything else is kind of out of whack.
Music can help support the rest and digest functions of our nervous system.
Things like easing our heart rate or slowing down our breathing.
Let’s just take a moment to notice what does my body feel like when I put my full attention toward listening.
I invite you to try breathing along with the sounds, putting your focus on the moments of pause at the beginning and end of our breath.
Breathing in, and breathing out.
Breathing in, pause.
Breathing out, pause.
Continue at your own pace.
We’re taught that we’re only worthy when we’re being productive, when we’re doing things or creating things, when we’re fixing something, especially when things feel overwhelming or difficult.
Our instinct is often to do more, but without moments of rest or pause, our ability to respond and to act is impacted.
And just like music has the ability to draw our attention when there’s a sudden pause, similarly when we pause in our lives, it can help us focus on what’s really important.
So continue to hear the sound, breathing in and out, and bring your focus to those moments of space in between, the space that’s created when a bell stops, the moment when the birds stop chirping, when the piano sound gets softer, when you breathe in and pause, and breathe out and pause.
There’s a quote by author and poet Cole Arthur Riley, who says, rest can feel like a risk when the world is aching, but exhaustion and disembodiment will not save us.
I don’t survive by your exhaustion, nor you mine.
Don’t abandon yourself.
At any point throughout the day, you can turn on a song, bring your attention to moments of space between each sound, and see how your body reacts to these moments of pausing.
Breathing in, pause, and out, pause.
The song you just listened to is called 528 Hertz, by producer Zenith.
Thanks.
