This is a Sonic Reset brought to you by Sonic Connections.
With this recording, we’re going to be exploring the impact that audio frequencies can have on our brains, our bodies, our energy levels.
Not to get too deep into the science, but when two tones are played at different frequencies in each ear at the same time, the space between those frequencies creates this pulsing wave effect.
And that wave can sync with our brain and bring about meditative states, encourage deep rest, increase our focus, all just depending on the difference in wavelength between the tones in each ear.
Now there’s a bunch of information available if you’re interested in learning more about solfeggio frequencies or binaural beats.
But first let’s just experience it.
That deep humming pulse in the background is a theta wave.
It’s almost like a distant rumbling, or a slow heartbeat.
The theta frequency wave is said to increase creativity, sharpen insight, and even boost serotonin.
So let’s just stay here for a bit.
You don’t have to be still, or even close your eyes.
You can just keep doing what you were doing, but see if you can notice that pulse and how it might make you feel.
You may have noticed that there are some additional ambient frequencies and noises and bells to help with relaxation, but let’s see what it sounds like when just a wave is present.
Right now you’re listening to a delta wave.
The tone that’s playing in your right ear is just 3.3 hertz lower than the tone that’s playing in your left ear.
That’s what’s creating that wavy noise that you might be hearing.
Delta waves are said to help with deep sleep.
Comparatively, this is what a difference of 10 hertz between each ear feels like.
This is called an alpha wave, which can help with mental and physical relaxation.
Usually these frequencies are set in the background of ambient or other music to help experience the desired brain effects.
It does generally take between 10 and 15 minutes of listening to experience a shift or change in your mental state, so it’s not immediate.
That said, this is just an introduction, so if you’re interested, there are plenty of ways to keep listening to binaural beats and experimenting with different frequencies.
