Hey there.

This Sonic Reset is all about movement and perseverance, all that good stuff.

Music can be great at helping us feel energized, especially when we’re in a rut or feeling stuck.

So this is going to be a really quick energizer that can be especially useful when we’re struggling to check whatever it is off our to-do list.

As a quick note, I’ll be inviting you to move in different ways throughout this reset.

It is all consent-based, meaning if you’re walking through campus or on your way to class and don’t want to be breaking it down in the hallway, that’s totally cool.

Even visualizing yourself moving while, say, pulsing your fingertips together to the rhythm can bring about the same positive effects as a full-on dance break.

So participate however you’d like to in this moment.

Let’s get started by using a new song.

Start by noticing the different rhythms as they enter and layer on top of each other, choosing one to move along with.

Maybe even switching up to a couple different rhythms as you notice them.

You can bounce your shoulders, move your hips, nod your head, clap your hands together.

Sink into whichever rhythm you’ve chosen, whether it’s a slower one or a faster one.

Just connect to it and see what that feels like.

I invite you to visualize accomplishing something that you’ve been putting off.

Maybe it’s washing that dish, sending that text, hitting submit on that paper, starting that paper, really see yourself getting it done.

And keep moving while you’re visualizing, whether it’s a big movement or a really small one.

Can you notice any feelings that you may be experiencing while you’re moving, while you’re visualizing?

I invite you to slow down your movement slightly as the song changes again.

As you slow down, maybe picture some of the things that might be getting in the way of you doing that thing that you just visualized.

Can you make room for that tension of feeling stuck while still moving?

Maybe you’re overwhelmed or tired or confused.

See if you can just acknowledge the barriers that might be coming up while still moving through the rising tension.

And take a big breath in and release.

It is okay that you didn’t do this thing yet.

See if you can release that judgment.

Whatever barriers, whatever worries, just flow back into the movement, however you’re choosing to move.

Focus on what it might feel like to do just the first step of this thing.

Now you can start to slow your movement down.

Maybe stretch up or expand.

Maybe fill your lungs, drop your shoulders and release.

Maybe this energized you.

Maybe it didn’t.

But from here, you get to choose what to do next.

Thanks for moving through it.

This Sonic Reset included two songs.

The intro song was Floating Abstract Reinvention by Koma Studio, and the second song was Through the Wall by Beth Killian.
